THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A FREE MEAL

Anything with a free tag catches our eye immediately.
We do run for it and forget nothing is for free.

My professor during post-graduation always used to mention "THERE's NO SUCH THING AS A FREE MEAL"

Well that's true and make sense. Because, we give something free, either to gain some value or it has already lost its value. Its hard to accept but in my opinion, its true.

To get something for free, we surely give something in return. If you give a dog some food, you may think its having food for free, but it gives loyalty and commitment to you in return.
If you think you are getting something for free, don't have a blind-folded faith about it. You already gave something in return or you will be giving it soon.

In this hot election season in India, politicians promise many things that are beyond hope. Like free education, laptops, food, electricity, electronics, what not. People do believe them most of the time. But there's nothing that's free. We vote them to get access to our own money, paid in the form of taxes and many other forms. We have to realize that they are not giving us their own earnings. It's our money that they are going to give us may be in different forms. Just a thought, though.

But do we value what we get easily???

Let us consider a clearance sale for a famous cloth brand. By default, it is to clear the left-over stock. Even though we know about it, we get excited when there's a free sale poster.
You go to the sale and buy the same dress that you liked at the beginning of the trend but couldn't afford to buy it. Though you know the actual cost of it but bought it for lesser price, its value may differ to you. You wouldn't find it trendy or valuable enough as earlier. Because, when you see it, you will remember how much you spent on it. Its value becomes less in your sight because, you did not put much money to get it. That may be the human tendency. It's how people look at things.

If it is easy to get, there's something wrong with it. Even human. If we go easy on someone, we are loosing our value with them. If you cry easily you are fragile. You fall easily, you are weak. You forgive easily, you are innocent. Get hurt easily, not worth having.

What you get for free, doesn't last long. Either you loose it or it will be lost.

We treasure things that we got with difficulty. A small mud stone, if it is found in a long-lost treasure trunk, it becomes precious. Doesn't it?

I feel it'd be good to be a mud stone in a treasure box than a pebble under the sea.

Easy money doesn't have the thrill in them. Yes it'd bring peace when used it for something good.

Take less and try to give more than it. Well, its my piece of mind. It always worked that way to me!!!

Fear of falling

We all are scared of falling.....
But for different types of things.

Some fear their social status
Some fear their economical status
Some for falling in love and some are afraid of their career ladder.

Yet one day, we do fall. And that changes our life at once, good or bad doesn't matter. But it does change something, which is out of your imaginative boundaries. The only thing that makes sense is what you see from the place you have fallen.

Imagine an athlete from India running for a gold medal in the finals. He's much ahead of others but only few feet behind him is another athlete from Pakistan. In that nerve breaking moment, the Indian athlete tumbles a bit giving an opportunity to others to advance him. But he doesn't loose his balance, concentrates only on winning and that's fills his nerves with new energy which we usually call as determination.

Only determination and hope makes every fall and every hurdle an opportunity for betterment.

I happened to watch an amazing video of a Wildebeest fighting for life with half a dozen Cheetahs. I was wondering if there is a way this beast can escape. As I was giving up hope, it just freed itself from the Cheetahs and fought back for life. Guess what happened next? It survived. In reality, when it was surrounded by death, it fought fear, fear to die. That fear awakened the hope to live and the determination to fight back.

If money was a human, I'm sure it'd have committed suicide by now for everyone blaming it as the ruler of the world. But the truth is, in my opinion, fear is the soul emperor of the universe. But yes, the motivation fear gives is extreme, like playing a life or death game sometimes.

But it also reveals the most extreme and unbelievable side of you at times. The fear of loosing something is what makes you work hard for it. So, don't be afraid to experience fear. Its as good for health as a good heart-felt laugh.
